Meet Joey
the little koala with
the green nose
Once upon a time,
in the ancient Forest of Whispers, a magical place scented with eucalyptus, there lived a little koala named Joey.
Joey was not an ordinary koala, not one of those funny, furry little bears who spend their time hugging branches and munching away. Joey had something special.
First of all, Joey had no mouth, so munching was quite out of the question. Speaking was impossible too. In truth, this was not such a big problem, since koalas generally tend to be creatures of few words.
Most of all, right in the middle of that sweet koala face, Joey had a big nose the colour of spring leaves. A green so bright that it certainly did not go unnoticed.
At first, while looking at the reflection in the clear waters of Crystal Mirror Lake, which lay right at the heart of the forest, Joey had often wondered where they truly belonged in that enchanted world.
The other koalas spent their lives thinking about their favourite food: eucalyptus. When they were not eating it, they were looking for it. On the rare occasions when they were not eating it or looking for it, they were talking about it with one another. And when they slept, they usually dreamed about it.
Poor Joey, who had never even tasted eucalyptus, felt a little lonely.
Then, one warm summer evening, everything suddently became clear.
As Joey was gently rocking in the shade of a great oak tree, looking up at the thick crown of leaves above, Joey noticed a red squirrel among the branches. The little creature was in trouble: tired, lost and struggling terribly to breathe.
Joey climbed up, up the trunk of the oak tree, moved from branch to branch until Joey reached the little squirrel.
Unable to speak, Joey did what the heart suggested: Joey sat beside the squirrel, stretched out those big, soft ears to listen, and wrapped the little one in a reassuring hug.
And then, a small miracle happened. The calmer the little squirrel became, slowly finding the rhythm of breathing again, the more Joey’s big nose began to glow with a warm, golden and emerald light. It lit up the leaves and acorns of the oak tree and comforted Joey’s new friend.
It was when Joey understood that the nose was not simply something unusual, but a true gift: it lit up every time Joey cared for someone.
If a friend was sad, Joey’s gaze became a gentle caress. If a little animal was frightened, Joey’s presence became a shield.
And so, the little koala decided to set off on a journey, travelling far and wide across the Forest of Whispers in search of friends to help.
One early morning,
as the sun was rising and spreading a soft pink glow across the surface of Crystal Mirror Lake, while a warm breeze blew through the branches of the forest, carrying the scent of eucalyptus and jasmine through the air, Joey saw something twirling in the sky.
It looked very much like a kite, but it was lit with the same green light as Joey’s nose, and it’s shape reminded Joey of two little homes almost held together in an embrace.
Curious, Joey followed the kite all the way to the Clearing of a Thousand Doors.
Peeking through the elderberry bushes that surrounded it, Joey saw a great family of gentle travellers, known to everyone as the “Keepers of the Clearing” and called, in the language of humans, “VIVISOL”.
On their clothes, the Keepers wore the very same symbol as the kite Joey had seen in the sky.
It looked very much like a kite, but it was lit with the same green light as Joey’s nose, and it’s shape reminded Joey of two little homes almost held together in an embrace.
Curious, Joey followed the kite all the way to the Clearing of a Thousand Doors.

Since the beginning of time, they had travelled the world with the noblest mission of all:
going from door to door to bring help, relief and care to those who were weak or unwell.
Joey gathered courage in both paws, pushed aside a hawthorn bush and, as soon as the first step was taken into the clearing, Joey’s nose lit up with a vital glow, revealing the little koala to the Keepers in all of that quiet beauty.
Joey immediately understood that the little koala’s destiny was closely tied to that of the Keepers.

From that day on,
the little koala Joey became the most faithful companion of the Keepers of the Clearing.
Joey discovered that the right place was not in the forest among eucalyptus leaves, but in people’s homes.
Today, Joey sits beside anyone who needs care. And when evening falls and the shadows grow longer, Joey’s nose begins to shine, gently lighting up the darkness with a soft and caring glow.
